How to apply for Passport from Mobile Phone?
As technology is continuously growing, our work is getting even easier. If we talk about a half years or two years ago, for the mobile recharge, whether the electricity bill is to be deposited, whether to deposit money for the policy. Almost all of these work was done in the offline way. But as the technology is expanding, now we can do all the work by our own computer and mobile phones. Now you must take the passport first, we had to go to a shop to make a passport or fill the form on our computer online.
But now the Government has recently added new features in its official “mPassportSeva” app. Now with the help of this app you can apply for passport from your smartphone. The ‘MPassportSeva’ app is available for free download on both Android and iOS. If you don’t want to fill the form in a cyber cafe or on your computer, but if you have a smartphone then don’t worry, you can apply for your passport from your mobile very easily.
So in today’s article we are going to tell you the complete Process of How to apply for Passport from Mobile Phone? In this article we’ll cover all steps one by one so that there will be no problem in front of you to apply your passport from Mobile phone.
How to use the “MpassportSeva” app to apply for a passport on your Smartphone?
To apply for a passport from your mobile, you follow the following steps:
First of all, you have to install an application in your mobile.
- ✔To install the app you need to go to the Play Store on your mobile.
- ✔Type Mpassport in the top search bar & install it in your smartphone.
- ✔After installing the Mpassport application you have to open it.
After the Mpassport application is open, you have an interface As you can see in image-1.
If you want to apply for a passport through your mobile, after installing this application and opening it first you have to click on 2nd option “New User Register”. After clicking on this, a form like this comes out in front of you as you can see in images-2 and 3.Before processed first, Here you have to register this application.
- In the first option here, you have to choose a passport office, in which passport office you want to go for Making your passport.
- After choosing passport office, you have to enter your name and Surname here.
- Now you have to choose your Date of Birth. You can easily choose your birth date by clicking on the calendar containing the icon.
- After that you have to enter your email ID, Now you have an option here that Do you want your login ID to be same as E-mail ID? So I will suggest you to click here on Yes. This will make you easy to log in to the application anytime in the future.
- In next step, you have to create a password according to your wishes here and after that you also have to enter the same password in Confirm Password.
- After entering password, you have to choose any of the questions here and answer it.
- After that you have to click on submit button at the bottom after entering the captcha code.
After clicking on Submit, a message appears in front of you. As you can see in image-4. It says that
“Thank you for registering on the passport sevaportal. To activate your account, please click the link in the email sent to your email id”.
image-6: After clicking on that link, interface something like this comes out to you. Here you see an option to enter your email ID. After entering your email ID here just click on Submit.
“Your account has been activated successfully.”
image-8: Now you have to go back to Mpassport’s application and after going to Main Menu, click on Existing User Login.
image-9: Here you have to click on Continue after entering your email ID. Keep in mind that you have to enter the same email ID by which you just registered. After clicking on Continue, you get the option of entering a password. Here you have to enter your password and then click on the login after entering the captcha code.
Image-10: After clicking Login, you can see three types of options here: –
- ✔Apply for Fresh Passport / Re-issue of Passport
- ✔Apply for police clearance certificate
- ✔View saved / submitted applications
Image-11: Here you have the option to choose your State and District. So you have to choose your State and District properly. After this you have some kind of interface on your mobile screen as you can see in image-12.
After this, you get two options in “Type of Application” first Normal and second Tatkaal. If you have to go out of the Country within a few days, then you can select the option with Tatkaal here. And if you do not need to go anywhere within upcoming few days, then select Normal here.
After this, you also have two options in the Type of Booklet:
The first for 36 pages and the other for 60 pages. Here is how many pages Passport booklet you want to apply, Select the option here as per your choice. By the way, let me tell you a important thing that is: there is no difference between 36 pages or 60 pages passport booklet Except of pages number. So here you have to select the option as per your choice and click Next.
In the subsequent option, you are asked whether you are known by any other name or not? If you have a different name then you have to click on Yes and enter your second name. If you do not have any other name, you can click on No. After this you are asked Have you ever changed your name or not? If you have ever changed your name, then after clicking on Yes you have to put your first name here. If you have not changed your name, you just have to click on NO.
After that you have to enter your birth date, you can easily select your birth date by clicking on the calendar containing the icon. After this you are asked whether you have been born outside of India in another country or not, you have to choose option as per your answer. After this, you have to choose your state and District.
image-13: After that you have to choose your gender, your Marital Status here. If you choose Single, Then you do not have to give any certificates for making your passport, whereas if you are married then you need a Marriage Certificate. After that you have to tell about your Citizenship that you are living in India, here just select Birth.
After this, if you have a PAN card, Here you can see a option to put PAN card number and below it you can put your voter ID card number here, If you do not have any of twos, then you can leave them blank.
After this, you have to choose your employment type or you work in the Private Sector or in the Government Sector or you have any business or you are a students etc.
Here you have to choose your Education Qualification. You can choose the option according to your Education Qualification. After this you are asked that the applicant comes in the NON ECR category or not? If you have more than 10th class documents then you select No here or else you select Yes.
- ✔Your Father’s Name
- ✔Your mother’s name
- ✔The name of your guardians.
And finally you are asked if you have a permanent address available that means that you have a Permanent Address other than the address you have given above. If the address you have given above is your Permanent Address, then you click No, otherwise after clicking on Yes your Permanent Address is also to be filled correctly. After that you have to click on Next.
Image-17: As you click on next, a notification comes in the form of a popup in which it says that you can not change any information you have given so far so that you can check all information carefully once again. If all the information is correct then you have to click OK.
image-18: Here you have to put an Emergency Contact No. with his address also, you can put contact any of your family members or any of your friends. After filling all these information correctly, you have to click on next.
Image-19: Here you have to click on “NO” because it is for only Tibetan.
In the second option, you have to give information about the official passport because now you are applying for your a fresh passport. If you don’t have any passport, then you have to select the 2nd option here, which says “Details Not Available”. In the third option, you are asked if you have applied for a passport before but have not received it. So here you have to select No. And after that you have to click Next.
Image-20: After clicking Next, you have to give some more information here, where you are asked about your criminal background, Here you have to select No in all options, then click on Next.
Needed Documents for a Passport?
After this you are asked do you want to take a Passport SMS service, if you want to take a Passport SMS service, then click Yes. I would suggest that you should take this SMS service because it keeps you from knowing that what is the status of your passport? For this SMS service, you have to pay Rs. 50 which you have to pay in the passport office. After this you have to enter that mobile number on which you want to get this passport SMS service. After that you have to enter your Place / Location. Here the date comes automatically.
Now you have to click on Save Details so that all information you have entered so far becomes saved. Now you have to click on the submit form after selecting the “i Agree” column. For your information, let me know that once you click on Submit Form, after that you won’t be able to make any changes here. So you can check your form once again by clicking on the Preview Form. After watching the preview, if you think that all your information is perfect then you can click Submit Form.

After clicking OK, you have 3 types of options coming out as you can see in image-24. Here you have to click on “View Saved / Submitted Application” at the bottom.
image-25: After clicking here you can see all your application form what you have saved or applied so far. As we have just submitted one application here So only we can see the same application form. Click on the Three Dots in the top right. Here you can see three types of options:
- Pay & Schedule Appointment
- View application details
- Track payment status
image-27: After clicking on the “Challan Payment”, the details of your form come out with your name, your application number & how much you have to pay to make your passport etc. After that you have to click “Generate Challan”.

After generating the Challan, you will not be able to make payment through any other online payment mode. Do you want to continue?
Here you have to click on Yes.
Image-29: Clicking on it a Challan soft copy Save as a PDF file in the downloaded folder of your phone. You can see in image-30 that some kind of format is saved in your mobile as a PDF file.
What you have to do now? You have to take print out of Challan PDF file, and deposit it in any branch of SBI Bank with payment. Some kind of Challan is saved as a PDF file as you can see in image-30.
After making a full payment with Challan in any of the branches of SBI Bank, you have to login again in Mpassport application. And again click on “View Saved / Submitted Application” as you can see in image-24.
Now click on the 3 Dots above your Submit Application and click “Pay & Schedule Appointment”. as you can see in image-25. In which passport office you want to get the appointment, Here you will get the Appointment Date and Time option to go to the passport office. Here the all dates of appointment are available in the passport office. You can also schedule your Appointment accordingly. After fixing the appointment date and time, you have to go to the passport office on the exact date.
What to do in the Passport Office?
You have to go 15 minutes before the time within the passport office. As if your appointment is 11:15 then you should reach the passport office by 11:00. Because 15 minutes before entry into the passport office is done. While entering, he only check the receipt of your form that you printed while applying the form. Only after checking that slip, you get entry into the passport office. Your documents are checked inside the passport office and one of your photo is clicked. The photo which is clicked in the passport office comes in your passport.
Police Verification Process for Fresh Passport?
After knowing that “How to apply for Passport from Mobile Phone?” Let’s talk about the process of police verification.Two or three days after coming from the Passport Office, you get a verification call from the police station. For police verification you must have all the documents that you have deposited in the passport office. As if you had submitted your Aadhar card, PAN card or mark-sheet in your passport office for your passport application, then at the time of police verification, you should have all those documents. Along with this, you must have two passport size photographs and besides this you need two more documents.
One is non-criminal background affidavit. Which you can make from any notary advocate. You have to go to the notary advocate and just have to say that my police verification for passport has to be done so that I need non-criminal background affidavit, then it gives you this affidavit. For Affidavit only ₹ 80 to ₹ 100 costs.
And if you belongs to a village, then you have to write a letter from the Pradhan of your village. In which you have written that it is a resident of this village and it is not involved in any kind of criminal activity. A lot of such things are written about you by the Pradhan. After that, you have to go to the police station with all these documents, in police station you have to do two signatures only.
You only have 15 minutes of work time in the police station. After completion the verification by the police, NOC “No objection certificate” from the police station is sent to the passport office. And after that within a few days your passport comes to you.
